Dr. Bruce A. Osborne

An Emeritus Professor of Plant Ecophysiology and Climate Change in University College Dublin and a Principal Investigator (PI) in the UCD Earth Institute; he has had an  extensive and diverse teaching portfolio, with considerable experience of curriculum development and reform. He has served as Head of Subject (Botany) and Head of Department and was involved in major restructuring of the Plant Biology degree during the development of the UCD Horizons programme, and introduced new assessment and teaching methods. He also taught in Trinity College Dublin, during a sabbatical, and abroad (e.g. Kenya, Sudan, UK and Chile), and a member of several UCD Committees on teaching, research and outreach. He has been an advisor to the Higher Education for Development Organisation and the OPW on a new visitor centre, and contributed to extra-mural classes and residential field courses. He is a regular judge at the Young Scientists exhibition, and contributed to the organization of  national events for promoting science in schools. 

Prof. Osborne obtained his graduation, higher studies and research from University of Stirling, University of Nottingham, Queen’s University, Belfast and The University of Dundee, UK. He has over 170 published articles, a  wide experience of running nationally and internationally funded research projects, and supervised >15 Post-docs and >30 PhD students to completion.  He was a board member of the European Plant Science Organisation from 2010-2017 and led several national and international working groups. He organised several scientific meetings/workshops, sponsored by EU, ESOF, EPSO, FESPB and SEB and serves on the advisory boards of several journals.

 

Ms. Toni Mercer

Toni Mercer is a successful Marketing and Communications Consultant specialising in the digitisation of Small to Medium sized businesses. With over 20 years’ experience, Toni has broad expertise across numerous industries and organisations.

Prior to consulting, Toni spent 10 years growing the digital footprint of the Sustainable Energy Authority of Ireland where she managed the strategy and communications of all digital assets. 

Toni holds a degree in Marketing & Languages and a Master’s degree in Mass Communications.

 
 
 
 

Mr. Tom Breen

Tom Breen is currently the Director of Food and Beverage at Carton House Resort. He is a dedicated and energetic Executive with over 15 years international experience in the industry and 11 years in Management roles.

He holds qualification in Hospitality Management from Technological University Dublin (TUD: former DIT). He has experience in teaching Hospitality at Queenstown Resort College, specialising in combining real-life training with classroom theory, incorporating the practical, theoretical and professional aspects of learning, and when he returned to Ireland, he sat on a Marriot interview and selection panel at TUD in 2017.

He is passionate about business management and development to reach for excellence and creating solutions to complex issues.

 

Ms. Samantha Cipriano

Samantha Cipriano is a Senior Instructional Designer having 14 years of experience gained by working at various educational institutes. Importantly, she worked for a large IT company over 6 years with a key responsibility of providing and managing IT trainings for more than 70-thousand people.

She has expertise in the management of learning project, and development of in-person training and e-learning. She has excellent know-how in knowledge management, enabling her to write a chapter of a book on Knowledge Dissemination.

Samantha holds a degree in Pedagogy, a post-graduation in  E-Learning and Neurolearning, and certifications in learning methodologies and Agile.

 

Dr. Dimitra K. Chaity

Dr. Chaity is currently a Neurology Research Registrar at Mater Misericordiae University Hospital and pursuing PhD in collaboration with University College Dublin. She obtained her medical degree (MUDr/MD) from UPJS, Slovakia. She was awarded a Gold medal and several crests for outstanding academic performances and secured talent pool scholarship during her secondary study periods.

Since 2013, Dr. Chaity has been serving the country as a medical doctor. She has been building her career in Clinical Neurology and teaching undergraduate medical students. Meanwhile, she attended and presented several research papers at various national and international conferences/workshops.  She enjoys providing community, social and professional services.

 

Ms. Michelle Burke

Michelle is a Senior Human Resources (HR) Consultant that provides best practice HR and employment law advice to clients across a range of industries. She has worked in a HR capacity with the Education, Film and TV, Manufacturing, IT, Health Care and Beauty industries. She has also spent 7 years working within the hospitality industry assuming a multitude of diverse roles inclusive of HR Manager for a new opening property.

Michelle has a CIPD qualification in Employment Law and Employee Relations and is pursuing her Diploma in Law with the Law Society of Ireland. She also holds a BA in Hospitality Management.
